Sophomore Career Exploration Series

As part of the Sophomore Career Exploration Series, The Wharton Undergraduate Division Student Life office is sponsoring a trip to Washington, DC.

Who: Wharton Sophomores
What: Trip to U.S. State Department
Where: Washington, DC
When: November 13, 5:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Why: This trip is intended to give sophomores the chance to learn more about business-related government career paths both with the State Department and other government sectors. Students will also have free time around the National Mall for lunch!

Register for this lottery by noon on Friday, October 30 for the opportunity to take part in this unique experience! Winners will be notified Friday afternoon and must confirm by Tuesday, November 3 at 5:00 p.m. A waitlist system will be in place for unconfirmed spots. Thirty spaces are available for the session. A $10.00 deposit is required for confirmation ($5.00 will be returned to go toward the cost of lunch). Students must also fill out a security sheet and bring photo I.D. for clearance into the State Department. For more information, please email chasep@wharton.upenn.edu.

The Sophomore Career Exploration Series provides sophomores with opportunities to explore different career paths, better understand their field of interest, and network with professionals. Each semester the program runs trips to New York and Washington DC for business site visits. Participants tour company facilities, meet with executives, attend Q&A panels, and more. The series also includes career-planning workshops and other networking sessions throughout the school year.

Sophomore Reorientation

Sophomore Reorientation provides information and advice to prepare students for the sophomore year including tips on how to best tackle the core, navigating the concentration declaration process, career exploration, student leadership, study abroad options, and more. A panel of expert junior and senior students as well as staff from Career Services and the Undergraduate Division are available to answer questions and provide advice.

Sophomore Soiree

Sophomores celebrate the end of the second year with their classmates. Students enjoy good food, giveaways, and class camaraderie before the start of reading days and finals.
