Searching Events

At this time, you can only search for items that appear in the Wharton Calendar.

You can subscribe to an rss feed by clicking on the icon next to an event or news item.

The SPIKE Calendar now has four calendars that you may toggle off and on. The Wharton Events calendar is available whether or not you are logged in. The personal, course schedule, and gsr calendars are available only when logged in. You may toggle these on and off to view a combination of calendars or individual calendars.
  • Filtering the Wharton Events Calendar by Tag
There are many wharton events...sometimes too many to view at once on a daily, weekly, or monthly view. If you are viewing the wharton events calendar you will see an expandable list of tags that you very easily select from and filter the wharton events that you are seeing to only events that are tagged with your selection. Some tags, when clicked on, expand to reveal a more specific set of tags.
  • Changing the view
You may select from three different views (day, week, month) and two formats (calendar, list).
  • Changing the date
You can easily change the date by either clicking the arrows to the right and left of the current date you are viewing to go forward or back one day, week, or month. You may also click on the calendar icon to select a specific date to view.
  • Searching
You may search the calendar by entering text in the search box in the upper right hand corner of the calendar page and clicking the search button. Please note that this search only wharton events. It does not search any of your personal calendar events.

The calendar navigation bar has a Wharton Events rss link where you can subscribe to any of the tags that can be assigned to events by the event coordinators.

Submitting Events/Reserving Rooms

You can add an event by going to the Calendar tab and then selecting "new wharton event".

A private event is an event that should not be published to the general public. Only calendar administrators and the submitter of the event are able to see private events.

Yes, all events submitted that are not marked private will be published immediately. Anyone who abuses the events calendar will have their permissions revoked.

Did you submit a room reservation request? A room won't be assigned to you unless you do this. Instead of just saving the event on the Wharton Calendar click the button that reads "Save Event & Continue to Room Request". When you fill out this form you should get a confirmation email. You may also contact the scheduling and facilities department at the following web site (http://inside.wharton.upenn.edu/wsfs/roomreservation.html)

First you submit the Calendar Event by clicking on the new wharton event link. Please select all appropriate tags from the right hand side. If you need a room at Wharton for your event you should click the Save Event & Continue to Room Request button. You then need to answer some additional questions on the next form to submit your room request. This form must be filled out 3 business days in advance. If you do not complete this second form, you will not be assigned a room. When you submit the Room Request it will send an email to specialevents@wharton.upenn.edu and the person listed as the contact for the event. You should save this email since it is your receipt and will be needed if there are any questions or problems. The Wharton Special Events Manager will email the contact person when they have found a room. Then the person who submitted the event needs to add the Room Location to the Wharton Events Calendar by logging into Spike, finding the event and clicking on the edit link. You should enter the location provided and then hit Save Event Only. Any questions regarding a specific Room Request should be made by responding to the initial email that is sent to the contact person after the Room Request was submitted. Any problems using either form can be submitted in the Spike Help Forum.

Course Schedules

All registration information is maintained in the University's Databases. Wharton only gets a copy of these registrations each morning, so your changes should appear the day after you make changes to your schedule, after the process completes.
