Blackberry Synchronization instructions for Wharton Live

AstraSync is Exchange ActiveSync for Blackberry devices. This software will allow you to sync email, calendar and contact items associated with your Wharton account to your Blackberry device.

Before downloading and installing the AstraSync software Backup your Blackberry using your Blackberry Desktop Software Manager.

Step 1: Send email to support@wharton.upenn.edu to obtain a registration key . Make the subject line AstraSync Registration .

Step 2 : Download AstraSync software to your Blackberry. From the web browser on your Blackberry device go to www.astrasync.com/dwl/lk.htm . Type in the registration key and click the submit button. If asked, choose the Over-The-Air Download and Install option

The following screen will appear and then click the Download button.

*Note: If your device is password protected, you will be asked to enter your password before being able to download the software.

Step 3 : Installing and Configuring AstraSync

**Before configuring AstraSync Backup your Blackberry**. Click the Ok button. If you've backed up your data continue with the configuration. If you haven't back up your device and do not proceed with the configuration. Also turn off any desktop synchronization in the Blackberry Desktop Manager to avoid duplication.

Configuration Instructions

1. Then accept the AstraSync License Agreement. Click your Blackberry Menu button and then press the scroll ball to accept the license
   
   
   
   
2. AstraSync will test your devices connectivity and choose the best network connection method. After you connection type has been determined click the menu button and select Next
   
   
   
   
3. The Server Configuration screen will appear. Enter the following information and then click the menu button and select Next
   
   Email Address: yourusername@wharton.upenn.edu
   Server: bl2prd0102.outlook.com
   Domain: wharton.upenn.edu
   Username: yourusername@wharton.upenn.edu
   Password: Wharton Password
   Use SSL: Check this option
   
   
4. If you entered the correct credentials you will see the following screen. Click the menu button and select Next
   
   
   
   
   
5. On the Sync Settings screen select the items (Email, Calendar, Contacts) you would like to sync wirelessly with your device then click the menu button and select Next

6. If you have data on your device the following screen will appear. If you had no data on your device skip to step 7.
   
   
   
   Select Continue Anyway from the Blackberry list menu
   
   
7. AstraSync will begin to sync theWharton account items you selected to your Blackberry
   
   
8. Installation is complete. If you are using a Blackberry Bold you'll need to move the AstraSync icon from your Downloads folder to your Main screen on Applications folder.
   

Step 4 : Registering your AstraSync Software

1. To register AstraSync click the menu button and select Options
2. Select Register from the list and enter the Registration Key
3. Choose 'register' from the menu to validate with the AstraSync servers

Step 5 : Configuring Astra Sync

Astra Sync can be configured to your own preferences. You can configure

• A synchronization schedule- this will determine when you device syncs with your account and how often this happens.
• Calendar settings
• Alert settings- will your device beep or vibrate when a new message arrives.

To configure AstraSync click the menu button and select Options.
