Guidelines for Private Equity Individualized Major (Revised Fall 2009)

Students who want to pursue an individualized major in Private Equity-Venture Capital  must complete the courses below. As with all individualized majors at Wharton, the individualized major in Private Equity-Venture Capital cannot be combined with any other majors. No applications for majors with these (or related) titles will be approved outside this framework. " Up to 1.0 cu of these courses may be taken on a pass/fail basis.

The individualized major may be listed as any one of the following according to the student’s choice:

  1. Private Equity
  2. Venture Capital
  3. Private Equity-Venture Capital

Completion of the individualized major requirements detailed below will automatically permit a student to declare an individualized major in Private Equity-Venture Capital. No further approval is required

Required Courses (3 cu)

  • FNCE 726 (1.0 cu)
  • FNCE 750 (1.0 cu)
  • MGMT 801 (0.5 cu)
  • MGMT 804 (0.5 cu)

Electives: 2 cu from the following list:

  • MGMT 691/OPIM691/LGST806 (1.0 cu)
  • MGMT731 (0.5 cu)
  • MGMT 802 (0.5 cu)
  • MGMT 806 or MGMT810 (students may count one or the other, but not both) (1.0 cu)
  • MGMT 809 (0.5 cu)
  • MGMT 811 (0.5 cu)
  • MGMT816  (0.5 cu)
  • MGMT833 (1.0 cu)
  • LGST813 (1.0 cu)
  • HCMG867 (0.5 cu)
  • MKTG781 (0.5 cu)
  • OPIM651 (0.5 cu)
  • OPIM654 (1.0 cu)
  • OPIM662  (0.5 cu)
  • REAL891 (0.5 cu)
