Process for Obtaining the Dean's Approval for a Speaker Invitation Letter or Brochure Welcome Letter

Speaker Invitation Letter

Allow a minimum of six (6) business days to complete the process outlined below.

  1. If you are considering asking the Dean to send a speaker invitation letter, please read the "Suggestions for Securing Speakers" that we have outlined elsewhere on this site first.
  2. Prepare a draft of the letter you would like the Dean to send inviting the speaker to campus for your event. Click here for a sample letter of invitation (.pdf) which you can use as a model.  Ensure that all required elements highlighted in the sample letter are included before you proceed.
  3. If you want the Dean to send a letter to a person who is an alumnus/a or dignitary who resides outside the United States, the draft must first be approved by Jeffrey Sheehan, the Associate Dean for International Relations.  Please allow a minimum of three business days for your letter to be reviewed by Mr. Sheehan since he travels frequently.
  4. If you want the Dean to send a letter to a Wharton alumnus/a or dignitary who resides inside the United States, the draft must first be approved by Alison Matejczyk, the Director of Wharton Corporate and Foundation Relations.  Please allow a minimum of three business days for your letter to be reviewed by Ms. Matejczyk since she travels frequently.
  5. E-mail the draft letter to Leslie Friedman in the MBA Program Office, and Cynthia Russell, the Dean's Special Assistant, along with evidence of the appropriate approval (as outlined above).  Ms. Russell will not edit any letters without the required approvals.
  6. Ms. Russell will e-mail you when and where to pick up the completed letter with the Dean's signature.  Please allow a minimum of three business days for your letter to be edited and approved by the Dean's office.
