RECOMMENDED SETTINGS FOR WHARTON LIVE MAIL

 

Wharton Live has several options for how you can configure your account. Most settings come pre-configured in a way that is suitable for typical users. But there are a few important settings that you should make sure are properly configured for your needs while using Wharton Live. This document includes important settings you need to configure for your Wharton Live account.

System Requirements

To get optimal performance with Wharton Live Mail your computer must meet the following requirements.

Browsers:

  • Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher
  • Firefox 1.5 or higher

Hardware Configuration:

  • 1 gigahertz (GHz) CPU
  • 256 megabytes (MB) RAM
  • Broadband Internet Connection (including speeds as slow as 128 Kbps)

Account Registration Settings

The following steps need to be completed for you to have full access to Wharton Live Mail.

  • To access your Live Account registration information go to http://account.live.com
  • Login with your Wharton Live account username (your Wharton username@wharton.upenn.edu) and password.
  • Click the "Registered Information" link


  • Complete the First and Last Name fields and click the Save button at the bottom of the page.

Saving Sent Emails



By default, Wharton Live does not save a copy of messages you send in your "Sent" folder. If you would like to keep a copy of your sent messages, you will need to enable this functionality in your Wharton Live mail settings. To do this follow the instructions that are listed below. Log on to your Wharton Live Mail account, http://live.wharton.upenn.edu/mail.

  1. Click the Options menu which is located on the right side of the screen and select More Options from the menu.
  2. Under the Customize your email section, click the Save Sent Messages link
  3. Choose the option Save all sent messages in the Sent items folder
  4. Click the Save button to save your settings.

Junk Mail Settings

By default, your Wharton Live junk mail settings are set to standard. This means that most junk mail will be filtered to your Junk Mail folder. This should be optimal for most users. If you notice that you are receiving more Junk Mail to your account and would like to stop this you can change your junk mail settings accordingly by following the instructions listed below.

  1. Log on to your Wharton Live Mail account, http://live.wharton.upenn.edu/mail
  2. Click the Options menu which is located on the right side of the screen and select More Options from the menu.
  3. Under the Junk email section, click the Filters and reporting link.
  4. Click the Save button to save your settings.
