Using Your Wharton Account

A Wharton Exchange account on Key (MBA & Undergraduate students) server allows storage of personal e-mail, calendar, and contacts on Wharton's servers so that they are accessible anywhere there is Internet access. There are three different ways to access a Wharton exchange account:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2007 or 2003
  • MS Outlook Express (or any other IMAP4 client)
  • Wharton's WebMail interface using a web browser

Microsoft Outlook 2007 or 2003

Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2003 configured in Exchange mode is Wharton's recommended communications client - it has many features and is the program that will be preconfigured on Wharton's computing workstations. If you choose to purchase and use Outlook at home, instructions for configuring it on a PC can be found at: http://spike.wharton.upenn.edu/support/email/outlook.cfm

Microsoft Outlook Express (or any other IMAP4 client)

Outlook 2007 will be preconfigured for your use on Wharton's public workstations. However, at home, you can configure OE or any other IMAP4 client to work with your e-mail account. Instructions for configuring OE are at: http://spike.wharton.upenn.edu/support/email/oe_config.cfm

Wharton Webmail

The quickest way to check e-mail is to use Wharton's web-based interface. Webmail can be accessed anywhere there is an Internet connection and web browser. This interface is available to students through SPIKE's Webmail link at http://spike.wharton.upenn.edu or at http://owa.wharton.upenn.edu
