Configuring Palm Versamail for Exchange

Configuring Versamail in Exchange ActiveSync mode allows you to get your Wharton email and calendar items wirelessly to your Palm device. To sync your Wharton contacts on your device you will have to use Pocket Mirror to sync with Outlook on your computer.

Before configuring Versamail in Exchange ActiveSync mode, backup all calendar and contacts items that are stored on your device and not in your Wharton account. The calendar items stored on your device will need to be deleted by the Versamail program to complete these set up.

To configure Versamail to access your Wharton email and calendar wirelessly, do the following:

• Launch the Versamail program on your Palm device.
• Click the Application Menu button. On Treo 650 smartphones this button is located above the Mail icon.
• Select the Accounts menu. Then choose Account Setup from the menu.
• Click the New button to create a new account.
• Once the new account wizard launches,
• For Account Name enter Wharton.
• For Mail Service select Exchange ActiveSync from the drop-down menu.
• Click the Next button.
• Enter your Wharton username(wharton\your username) and password and click the Next button.
• Enter your Wharton e-mail address: username@wharton.upenn.edu..
  In the Mail Server field enter owa.wharton.upenn.edu and click then Next button.
• Click the Test Settings button.
  Note: You'll need to be connected to the Internet to perform this function.
• You should then receive a message that says the Calendar items in your device will be deleted to prevent duplicates. Select yes to proceed if you've already backed up calendar items that are stored on your device and not in your Wharton account. Click No if you need to back up your calendar information.
• Click Done and then the Ok button.
• Click the Sync button to start downloading your e-mail and calendar items from the server to your Palm device.
  Note: All of your calendar items will be deleted from your device when you perform your first sync in Exchange ActiveSync mode. Make sure you've backed up all calendar, contact, and mail items on your device before performing this sync.
